Family Support Groups

Family Support Groups

Here are Pendlebury Care Homes, we understand the difficulties and emotions, most families experience when a family member is diagnosed with dementia. Trying to support their medical, social and emotional needs as well as taking care of yourself and the rest of your family is a juggling act. That is why we have introduced, family support sessions at our homes, so people know they are not alone. There will be information sheets to take away with you about dementia and we will update you on what we are doing in our quest to become a dementia champion. Our aim is to bring people together to share experiences and help to obtain practical and emotional support.

The group meets every 3 months, but we know that new friendships are made and people do keep in touch regularly.

“ I find the sessions really helpful. It’s always nice to talk to people who understand what you are going through as you can feel so alone.”

Relatives Meetings

Every four months, we organise a relatives meeting, where it gives us chance to update you any key changes or developments at the home. We welcome feedback from families and use suggestions to improve what we do, wherever possible.

You get to meet the senior team who look after the day to day running of the home and have the opportunity to meet other families in a relaxed setting.

"We were really anxious before Mum came to the home but we needn't have worried as she is in good hands. The staff took the time to explain everything to us, we didn't feel rushed to make a decision and we were shown round the home."
